To all of our Virginians for Veterans (V4V) supporters and friends,
Thank you for making our September 11th golf outing such a smashing success. We all enjoyed the cooler weather and played a snappy 4 1/2 hour round. Our hosts at The Foundry fed us and treated us and 23 vets to a great day. With your generosity, as of year end 2020, we have raised over $1.8 million to benefit veterans. $100,000 of this money annually has been distributed to four Veterans Benefits groups: Fisher House, Operation Healing Forces, LiberRick Herema's Place at Fort Bragg. The balance is going to be shared with other Veteran's Charities and individual needy veteran's families.
Also thanks to retired Major General Carroll Childers for his supportive words, former PGA touring pro Robert Wrenn and Powhatan Canadian touring pro Jay Woodson for the clinic and their assistance on 1 and 17 tees. Special thanks to the Foundry golf staff, food and beverage staff and golf course maintenance crew for their hard work.
This was the first year for this tournament under V4V. The tournament was formerly held in support of Challenge America exclusively. In the 9 years since inception, the tournament has raised in excess of $1.8 million to aid our vets.
Additionally, this year, under the guidance of our friend, advisor and legal counsel Bill Cave, we were able to assist the family of former Marine and Powhatan resident Mike Walter. Mr. Walter was a Special Agent Virginia State Trooper who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year. A number of generous of folks including Mike's brother made this stand-alone event happen. The family mortgage was paid off and we have provided interim health care for Mike's widow and two children.
In closing, we would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and ask you to save the date of September 13, 2021 for next year's event at The Foundry.
Best regards,
